Haunting Sounds to Wake the Dead 🤘🏻

I remember when I was a kid there were cassettes or records you could buy that just had spooky sounds. Witches cackling, howls, and booooooooos from ghosts. I like to think of it as an audio version of a Yule log for Halloween. Sometimes i miss how simple the holiday was as a kid. I know that SiriusXM has a Halloween station that plays music and sounds for Halloween, perfect for parties, and I’m sure I could find digital collections of Halloween sounds.

Way back when my wife and I got married, we had Halloween parties in our tiny apartment. We had friends and co-workers over and I made food and there were lots of drinks. For those parties i started making Mix CDs of my favorite Halloween-themed songs. We had a 5 disc CD changer and we would just put it on shuffle and repeat and let it go quietly in the background all night. I have spent the last 20 years curating that, now playlist, and even started a new collection of Heavy Metal Halloween-themed songs on a separate playlist.

Here is my Halloween Playlist:

For those of you who like your Halloween a little darker, with a bit more metal. Here is my Halloween Playlist: Slasher Edition:

My Slasher Edition does have a lot of Motionless in White and Ice Nine Kills and that is because INK has 2 almost 3 albums that have songs based directly on Horror movies, mostly. MIW’s first album Creatures was also mostly Horror themed. MIW has always had a creepy side to their albums and on Scoring the End of the World they had the Michael Jackson Thriller style video for Werewolf and this year they continued that sentiment on their recent album Decades with Love at First Bite about a werewolf who falls for a vampire.

This is really cute because Chris Motionless is the werewolf and I think his real life girlfriend, who is in the RIP video, does makeup videos as a vampire on Instagram.

I hope you all have your own haunted soundtracks for your Halloween holiday. Let me know, what are your top favorite songs to get your bones moving?
