Normally, this post is wrapping up my week of posts, what I did for my favorite holiday, and all my hopes for the next Halloween. Well, you may have noticed that outside of my kick off post there were no other posts. Life hit me in the teeth and I ended up not having any time to write. Work was crazy busy and I got sick on top of it. Thankfully I started to feel better on Halloween so I got to enjoy that at least.
I had thought I had some great ideas for this year’s posts. I’m really bummed I wasn’t able to get them written and posted. I usually either start the Halloween Franchise full watch-through of all the movies and the 2 remakes on Halloween to make it last a little longer, or I try to end the marathon on Halloween with Halloween Ends. This year I started my marathon on Halloween night so I figure I can extend Halloween week also. It’s my blog, I’ll do what I want.
So how was your Halloween? As I mentioned in my kick off post, ours has changed over the years. This year my son was at work and then hung out with his girlfriend. My youngest had a friend over to Trick-or-Treat in our neighborhood. Before her friend came over my daughter and I carved pumpkins. I tried a very detailed Art the Clown pumpkin which I ended up ruining and then just carving a classic face on the back. My daughter did Snoopy on a jack-o-lantern and it looked so good. I was so proud.
Halloween Evening, my wife and I had friends over for diner. The girls made mummy dogs, and I made Pizza Skulls with a salad and our friends brought over baked beans. After dinner we all sat out on the driveway with a fire pit while the kids in the neighborhood stopped by. Here are some photos:

#100HorrorMoviesin92 Days challenge wrap up. Well, as I said work was crazy. I know I have no room to complain and I’m very fortunate to be able to work from home and watch movies in the background. That is the only way I can get 2 or more movies watched in a day. My evenings and weekends are for family time and they don’t always want to watch horror, I or there is a hockey or MLS soccer game on and I have to follow my other passions too. This year I ended up with a new low of 83 movies watched. I have seemed to hover around this several years with 84 and 85 in previous years.
Here is a visual list of the movies I watched for the challenge and a link to my letterbox page so you can see the ratings. I had to edit some of the screenshots due to ads. I haven’t paid for the no ads yet on letterbox.

This year I only had one 5 Shot (🥃) watch and that was the movie Undertone. This has gotten some rough reviews but I really enjoyed it. What hooked me was watching this in the dark on my iPad with my AirPods. I had noise canceling and Spatial Audio which made the sounds sound like I was right in the middle of it. I think I will do a full review on this soon. The next highest shot count was 4 and a half 🥃’s. There were several because this was a good year for horror, but my favorites were Evil Dead Burn, and a surprise to me, Psycho II. I was very impressed how well Psycho 2 not only continued a story with a clear ending, but also how well it held up for scare factor factor this long after release.

One thing this challenge makes me realize is how much I love watching the same old favorites. The entirety of the 92 days, I can’t count how many times I wanted to watch the Evil Dead movies again, my favorite movies set on Halloween, and also non horror movies just because they popped into my head. It gets tough finding new to me horror movies I actually want to watch. Thankfully, I didn’t have many stinkers this year. I had two 1🥃 movies and one 1/2 🥃 watches which I will not talk about. You can see my ratings on Letterbox if you really want, I don’t see the need to post negatively here. I used to be really passionate about why I hated something, but then I realized that just because I didn’t like it doesn’t mean it wasn’t someone else’s favorite. As my wife would say, i don’t need to yuck on someone’s yum.
Aside from being still a little under the weather, Halloween was a lot of fun. Halloween is a life style for me so it never really ends. I am getting in the mind set thinking about all that needs to be done for us to host Thanksgiving, and I‘m planning a few fun evenings with friends and family over the holiday season. Finally going to really enjoy my bartending skills and may have some fun posts about those in the future.
This Halloween week is going to be a bit odd but I will be doing the content just because I like it. Hope you enjoy it even after the holiday and that you had a great Halloween as well.
