Halloween Hangover: The Wrap up

Yet another photo I cannot take credit for. I bought pumpkins be we were so busy we didn’t get to carve them this year. Now I have Thanksgiving decorations for my from porch. In the past when I have done a Halloween Week I liked doing this so I can give closure to Halloween and report on my various challenges. This year I did the 100HorrorMoviesin92Days challenge where in the past I have done more of a reading challenge.

So how was everyone’s Halloween? Any fun parties, did your kiddos go out Trick or Treating? Watch any good Horror movies? Mine was bitter sweet. Last year I posted that I thought it was my oldest son’s last year doing Halloween. Thankfully I was wrong. He and some friends went out Trick or Treating in a group and then hung out after. My youngest daughter however also went out with friends and not even in our neighborhood so this was my first year not walking around with my little ones and it broke my heart. I had such a hard time with both my kids leaving me behind on my favorite Holiday. On the positive side, it was a perfect fall night. Crisp air with the right amount of chill to get the sweatshirt out. My wife and I followed the rest of the neighbors and got the fire pit out on the drive way and sat outside by the fire handing out candy to all the kids that came by. That was a lot of fun.

My daughter and her friends did come back to our house after and they had a sleepover. The joy I had when my daughter put on Scream after everyone went to bed for the girls to watch. That is the 3rd time she has watched Scream this month. For October we introduced the kids to the Scream Franchise and watched a movie every Sunday night. I called it Sunday Screams. My daughter loved it and is now hooked. Since this went over so we are continuing Sunday Screams and watching a horror movie every Sunday night. I might be in heaven.

As you know from my kick off post i did the #100HorrorMoviesin92Days challenge. I actually completed the challenge with 101 movies that’s I had not seen before . This was only the 2nd time I completed this challenge with my last time being in 2022 and I watched a total of 108 new to me movies. In all honesty, I could have ended with 110 movies but I decided to do my annual Halloween Franchise watch through so it ended on Halloween. I made it pretty close. I ended up starting Halloween (2018) Halloween morning and finished Halloween Ends Monday 11/3. Check out my list of movies for this challenge here: https://boxd.it/MR4d8.

Overall this was a good Halloween and I was more in the spirit this year than I was last. Not saying it was easy to be in a happy state of mind but it was good fun, and a much needed reprieve from the shit show all around us. Hope you had a great Halloween and I’m already counting down and planing for next year. Maybe next year I will be able to decorate the house.
