Like most of the Mutant family, I’m not just a horror nerd. I love comics and superheroes. So when I had the idea for this post I was so excited to title this like Lois Lane’s Pulitzer Prize winning article from Richard Donner’s Superman 2.
When I told my wife about this she said she is glad I think I’m funny. I think I’m hilarious and this is making me giggle at my perceived cleverness while I type it out.

Season 6 of The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs has been so much fun. The format changed from 2 movies a night every week to 1 movie every other week. Like most, I was a little worried about this at first. However, the more I thought about it, I realized that I don’t have to be sad with a long break in between seasons. I also didn’t have to worry about trying to stay awake through the second movie. The new format also means more time to hang out (virtually) with some of my best friends.
I became instantly flattered, humbled, excited and nervous when I was asked if i wanted to run the MutantFam Twitter account (@TheMutantFam) as a guest host for an episode of The Last Drive-In. I had my pick of when I wanted to host and since my Birthday is in August I chose to start the month of my birthday hosting the best horror fans in the world. The next episode airs after my birthday so I chose to present before.
Leaning into my bar motif I sent out a call to the mutants to share their favorite cocktails. I wanted to make this post as if I had the mutants with me in my bar watching the show together. The drinks were flowing and fun was had. (FYI, I’m not playing favorites here just posting as the tweets came in 😁)
So who came to the bar you might ask. Here is who was able to attend and what they were drinking:

Root beer with Ballotin Carmel Turtle Whiskey

2 Parts root beer
I’d make it in a frosted pint glass. Add ice and pour the whiskey over the ice. Finish off with Fitz’s Root Beer (My Favorite and it’s a St Louis brew) give a gentle stir and serve.
Thinking about this I’d be curious to try lightly salting the rim like a margarita to give it a salted Carmel vibe also.

This was such an amazing experience. As someone who has hidden behind writing, not having to put my actual voice or face out there this was scary. I could have remained hidden but decided to step a bit more out of my comfort zone and I made videos, and sent pictures to make myself more natural with the people I have grown to call friends.
I had all these ideas of making every drink and taking pictures of it on my bar as if I served it but life got busy and best laid plans and all that.
Thank you all for sending me your favorite drinks whether they were all time favorites or current favorites. I had so much fun putting this together. Maybe there is a Cocktail book in the future where I can include more. I can’t thank the MutantFam account for letting me take the reins enough and I will never be able to express how much the positivity of the Mutants who interacted with me means.
