Feature Follow is the day of the week that we get to know each other and make some new friends. This is graciously put on by our hosts Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. This weeks question is: How do you handle a book you don’t like? Do you DNF, or do you power through?
Well I have always powered through. There is only one book I never finished and the was The Lost World by Michael Crichton. It was nothing like the movie and it was so wordy and long. As I read more and more books, my to-read list grows exponentially. I’m starting to toy with the idea of DNF just so I can move on to things I am actually excited about. Powering through seems to affect my reviews because by the end I really hated those books. Â

I try to get 33% or further before I DNF a book, but lately my patience has been less and less. I recently DNF a book not too far into it because it was like a Twlight + Harry Potter + Sabrina fan fiction all rolled into one giant mess.new bloglovin followerMy FF

I need to start thinking like that. I have wasted so much time on books I didn't like and it really makes it hard for me to want to read. I've read some stuff that seems like its copying Harry Potter or Hunger Games and it has not been my favorite. I should have DNF those. Thanks for following. I'm excited to check your blog out.

I have thought about reading the Lost World but haven't been sure. I am looking forward to Jurassic Park 4 though that's for sure!AngieAngela's Anxious Life

I loved the movies and I can't wait to see Jurassic Park 4 either. Especially if it is in 3D. I bet that will be cool. The books were not as good as the movie, I think. I rarely say that, but in this case it's true.

In my youth I'd power through to the bitter end. These days I figure that life is too short to read anything that doesn't engage me from the start. If, after 25 pages, I don't like a book, it goes into the donation pile. Fortunately this doesn't happen often.

I might give it more than 25 pages before I DNF just because some of my favorite books took longer than that to get going.

Books and films are rarely similar – the only similar one I've seen was Perks of Being a Wallflower, and that's because the author basically directed the entire thing.Happy Friday!My FFBlogaversary Giveaway

I agree but usually I would say the book is better than the movie. The Bone Collector was pretty close to the book except that Denzel Washington was not right for the role.

Usually I will give it 50-100 pages as I don't have the time to power through anymore due to other commitments. A book has to be fast-paced to keep my interest. I'm picky about what I read so only have 1 DNF so far! New follower 🙂Mia HoddellGift card giveaway

i used to always finish a book even if i wasn't particularly feeling it, just because i kept thinking it could get better. but recently i've found that i'll give a book 100 pages or so and if i'm not into by then i'll move on.
