My favorite time of the year. Horror is in my soul and I have found my people. Because of finding the MutantFam community and the Fangoria Community I have only nurtured my love for horror. I have found people who I have become really good friends with even though we are miles apart.
Halloween has always been my favorite holiday and one of these days I will make enough money to actually decorate my house for the season. We lived in apartments up until 6 years ago and then I found the harsh reality that Halloween decorations are really expensive. Oh how I would love a 12 ft skeleton for my front yard.
So, long ago when I was blogging more regularly I started Halloween week. An entire week of posts with movie reviews and all kinds of Halloween goodness. I was excited to bring it back last year in my new home here. Where it wasn’t officially titled Halloween Week, This one is. It’s back. Like the sequel you didn’t want but also didn’t know you needed. 🤪 Last year I did 2 book reviews (Bury Your Gays, and Incidents Around the House), a movie review (Stream), and a Halloween Cocktails post. I have been busy and have not tried any more cocktails for Halloween. Instead I have been sticking to my regular comfort favorite cocktails.
This week Halloween falls on a Friday and my youngest has plans that will end in a sleepover at our house so there may or may not be a post on Friday. I’m gutted, my baby girl is old enough to have plans with friends instead of walking around the neighborhood with her dad. I’m so sad I won’t get to see all the kids walking around in their costumes and the joy on my daughter’s face when she finds the house with the full size candy bars. I’m having a hard time adjusting. My oldest might not even go out for Halloween this year.
The plan for this week is to talk about some of my favorite Halloween movies, books, and recipes. Yes you heard it right, food is on the bar menu this year. We have family traditions and I have found a new Autumn dish that was to good to not continue to share.
