I look froward to this challenge every year. This will be my 5th year participating and the 6th year it has been done. The basic idea is to watch 100 horror movies that you have never seen from August 1 to Halloween. Shockingly I have only completed this challenge once and that was in 2022 when I watched a total of 108 new to me horror movies. The best I have done was 98 the first year I participated in 2021. Each year I try to pick little themes. For example one year I watched every Barbara Crampton and Jeffery Combs Horror movie I hadn’t seen that I could find on streaming services. The next year I focused on all of the Felissa Rose, Tiffany Shepis, and Kane Hodder movies I hadn’t see because I was listening to their Casualty Friday Podcast they did.
I’m not sure what theme I should try this year. Please feel free to make suggestions. The challenge may start today but I have 92 days for mini personal challenges still. I have found some amazing gems, and some really crappy movies doing this challenge. When you watch as much horror as I do, it can b difficult to find movies I haven’t seen. Since we track our progress through Letterbox, you can check out which movies made my list each year.
Can’t wait to see what movies I find this year. I know I have quite a list building on Shudder this year. Maybe I will do a clear my watch list Theme and finally watch those movies I have had sitting in my watchlist waiting to be enjoyed while I re-watch the same favorites over and over.
