I LOVE HALLOWEEN!!!! This is what I spend all year waiting for and even then, Spooky Season is really every day for me. I just have different types of Spooky Season. For example there are so many great Holiday Horror movies so you can find something to make any Holiday a bloody good time. Halloween its self extends a bit into November for me and then the second half of the month is chock full of delectable food Horror and Thanksgiving nightmares. Donβt get me started on Christmas Horror, that is going to be a theme coming up so I can share lists and reviews of my favorites.
Halloween to me means so much. Not only is it the start to that fall feel of crisp air and changing colors of leaves, but it is when it is ok to wear masks and pretend. Masks are so prevalent through Halloween with kids picking their favorite characters to head out, usually in the cold and rainy, night to gather as much candy as they can.
Adults also mask up for parties and Halloween themed events. Masks are rampant in Horror movies, the most popular being of course Michael Myers, and Jason Voorhees (feel free to comment your favorites) wearing their own masks to either hide flaws, or allowing them to become something more than their human form.
Iβm not saying anything you all havenβt read before or had your own thoughts and posts on. What I want to do is share this wonderful holiday will you dear reader. My goal is to post reviews of some of my favorite horror movies, and books to share the creepy spirit all week.
To get started, I have been participating in the #100HorrorMoviesin92Days challenge put on by SpookySarah on Twitter and LetterBox. This challenge starts August 1st and runs to Halloween day. The goal is to watch 100 new to you horror movies. I admit this is getting tougher and tougher every year because of how much I watch on a regular basis, but 2024 has been an absolute amazing year for Horror. Currently as I write this I sit at 80 out of 100. Sadly, I donβt think I will be making it this year. If you would like to check out the movies I have watched for this challenge you can click the link here.
Not only have I been trying to watch new Horror but I have my favorites I watch like I will spend Halloween starting my full Halloween movie watch through which includes Halloween 3: Season of the Witch and the Rob Zombie remakes. This is why I say Halloween creeps into my November a bit. There are a lot to watch.
Movies are not all I enjoy during this glorious time of the year. I have worked over the years to compile the very best Horror/Halloween themed collection of songs. September 1st starts my Halloween Mix playlists on repeat. Not sure this will work but I know Apple Music does allow or playlists to be shared. So here is the link for my Kid Friendly Halloween Mix. For those of you who want your Halloween music to cut through the night check out my metal Halloween Mix: Slasher Edition.
Canβt forget books, nothing better than a cool autumn day with a cup of coffee and a book. I used to participate in Halloween reading groups/challenges but I just donβt have the time I used to for reading or listening to books so where I still participate in reading a good spooky book, I have not joined in on these groups in awhile.
Hope to have you hang out with me this week of Halloween. What are your plans for Halloween? Any traditions you have? Share and letβs have a chat at the bar.
I have been doing a Halloween week post for years. It has been awhile since I have done one but this is something I want to get back into the habit of. Check out some of my old posts Here:
Happy Halloween.
