Hello! Welcome to the New Home of my Bar.

Wow!!!! I blogged for a long time before I took a break. I wrote most of them while i was at work when I was a cell phone Technician for Sprint (dating myself a bit). I wrote there because i was bored and had time on my hands. (FYI: This is going to be longer than what i plan will be the norm.) I may have been doing this for awhile, but i never felt i was an expert blogger. Now I’m even further out of my comfort zone with moving to WordPress. Please be patient and feel free to provide advice so I can make my content better. It’s all new to me again.

The initial purpose of my blog was book reviews. I tied into Goodreads, and NetGalley so I could read all kinds of new books and review them. From there I broadened to movie reviews because I found there were movies I had to talk about. As great as it was to have an outlet for my thoughts and opinions on things that mean a lot to me, I really created my blog to attempt to make friends.

Truth be told, and anyone who knows me already knows I’m socially awkward. I do not like being around large crowds, (unless it’s a Hockey game). I don’t know how to talk to people I don’t already know have common ground with me, so I thought if i did a blog i could find like minded people who shared my interest and wanted to talk. Agree/Disagree I didn’t care. Everyone is entitled to an opinion and as long as you are not an ass about it, you have a place here and I can’t wait to hear it.

Over time; keeping up with with my idea of how often to post content on the site and trying to read all the books I got as Advanced Reader copies, the fun was sucked out of it. So I stepped away. I also never really got the comments or discussion I had hoped for.

Fast forward to the pandemic. We all spent a lot more time at home and I watched a lot more movies. This gave me the excuse to subscribe to Shudder!!! I had wanted to subscribe for a while but couldn’t justify it at the time. My desire to watch more horror and other streaming services just didn’t cut it. It was time.

On Shudder I found one of my Guilty Pleasure movies Jack Frost. I didn’t know it at the time but, this was, The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs version. I was shocked!!!! I remembered Joe Bob and watching syndicated Monster Vision when i was a kid. Monster Vision was my initial exposure to Horror movies.

I may have been a spoiled child. At a young age I had a small black and white TV in my room that got local channels. On our local Channel 11, which now is the CW, late at night they would play horror movies and syndicated reruns of Monster Vision that was on TNT originally. I loved Joe Bob and his intellectual discussion on the ins and outs of how the movie was made and why the movie ended up where it did (was it well received or trashed). At the time I didn’t understand everything he was talking about but having the commentary helped me begin a deeper appreciation for movies. I immediately searched for The Last Drive-in and found seasons of great movies I had missed. It was my mission to catch up.

What I didn’t expect, was the community, friendship, and support that would come from this Shudder Original Series. I’ll go into detail on this in a future post (Read it or avoid it, I’m fine either way. I’m just happy you are here and hope you follow my crazy ride to the pit to Hell!!!🤘🏻). Thanks to The Mutant Family, (What us fans of the Last Drive-In lovingly call ourselves) I have met people virtually who are the kindest, smartest, and most interesting people I have met (outside of my wife of course). I have more, what I consider close friends, in the Mutant Family than I do in real life.

Here is how this ties together; bare with me a bit longer. The amazing people I met through The Mutant Family themselves have amazing Bloggs, YouTube Channels, PodCasts and more. They have inspired me to get back to this hobby I loved. I knew getting back to this, I was going to need a change. I wanted a new start and a fresh coat of paint on the blog. I had been wanting to leave Google for a long time due to the limitations I had so here I am. All of my old posts are here, but I’m starting over from nothing when it comes to followers. I’m asking for your help. If you liked this and the posts I have done previously, share this, help me build a community of people who want to talk about anything and everything.

This blog will have Horror Talk, reviews, dream castings, and what movies I’d like to see. It will have Liquor reviews, The Whiskeys, Bourbons, and other Spirits I have tried that deserve to be talked about and tried. There will be some sports, I’m a Die Hard Hockey fan and I bleed BLUE for the Saint Louis Blues no matter what. The reason ther will be some is I tried to write about the Blues for a fan site before but found it took the fun out of watching the games. Finally, to be true to my roots, I will continue Book reviews, Movie reviews, and I will even review albums because music is in my soul and a big part of my life.

This Bar is open for all. It accepts everyone as long as you are respectful. I’m new to WordPress but if a comment is targeted at me or another reader I will find a way to block you. Everyone is equal here, but hate has no place. Thank you for reading and I hope to see you again.
